For many years, I have experienced a recurring lucid dream. In this dream, my body is lifted, and the Sahasrara chakra at the top of my head spins at incredible speed. I can fly to any part of the world, flapping my hands like a bird. I can ascend to great heights, soaring through clouds, but as I approach the stars, a fear of not returning to Earth grips me, and I stop flapping my hands, gently descending back.
This dream feels intentionally created, occurring while I am in a semi-conscious sleeping state. My wife has confirmed its reality multiple times, as I recall specific details verified the next day. Each night, I sleep with the intention of experiencing this again. Often, while flying above the Earth, I walk over the heads of many people, creating animosity.
Last night, a new and vivid dream unfolded. I was attacked by a tiger, set upon me by its owner, driven by deep-seated animosity. For a few intense moments, I fought the beast with all my strength but ultimately was defeated. The tiger began to devour my body, starting from the head and moving downward, as if erasing a full-fledged picture until nothing remained.
After I was completely consumed, something remarkable occurred. The tiger turned on its owner, killing him and swallowing his entire body. In this surreal state, I was a mere witness to the phenomenon, even without a body, realizing I was no different from the bodiless owner who had instigated the attack. Our individual identities merged into one, like two droplets blending together, becoming indistinguishable.
Villagers soon gathered, shot the tiger, and burned its remains to ashes. Yet, even as the tiger’s body was destroyed, I perceived its energy, unaffected, merging with me—the universal witness. This profound realization led me to conclude that I am none other than the ONE present within every being, animate or inanimate. The thought bringing me to this conclusion was not even mine;
I, the witness, observed this thought as well. In my bodiless state, the subtle body encapsulating the eternal witness experienced the entire phenomenon. I, the witness of this grand process, remained the silent observer. I, the witness, am the only reality—eternal, indestructible, unaffected by burning or drying. As the witness of the grand cosmic spectacle, I recognize life’s infinite potential and vast possibilities, detachedly observing the intricate dance of Prakriti.
In this realization, I find profound peace and a deep understanding of the eternal essence that pervades all existence. You and I are not separate entities but rather manifestations of the same singular essence. Just as gold can be shaped into bangles, and when those bangles are melted down, only gold remains, we too are fundamentally the same. The essence of our being persists beyond the forms we temporarily take, unified and eternal, like the gold that endures after the bangles are burned.
Upon achieving liberation, an individual perceives nothing but the essence of Brahman, the absolute Self, within every living and nonliving entity. This perception is akin to recognizing gold within ornaments, water within waves, heat within mirages, emptiness within space, fire within heat, milk within butter, seeds within oil, honey within sweetness, and movement within air.
Once this state is attained, the innate obligation to “love your neighbors” emerges naturally. This realization brings to light that the very Brahman, which you are, pervades and thrives within the entirety of creation. You, in essence, exist in diverse forms.
In this profound understanding, I embrace the interconnectedness of all beings and the eternal essence that binds us. This journey through lucid dreams has led me to a deeper comprehension of my true nature and the universal unity that we all share. The eternal witness within me recognizes and honors the eternal witness within you, as we are all manifestations of the same singular, indestructible essence.
