- The spirit of brotherhood is what the celebration of Raksha Bandhan is all over India. In BVM Global @ Bengaluru, we always make handmade Rakhis and tie them for the soldiers as a gesture of gratitude for protecting us. A cultural event to entertain the soldiers has always been part of the programme.
- This year grade 7 and 8 children participated in the exercise and visited the Parachute Regiment Centre. Class 8 sang a patriotic song and class 7 girls presented a colourful coordinated dance. Everyone enjoyed learning more about the action-packed camp activities.
- A few excerpts from the children about the novel experience:

Tejas Kesavamurthy (7A):
I was very excited to be taken to Chhetri hall in the camp (named after the famous footballer Sunil Chhetri). After the cultural events, the Colonel talked to us about the basics of the army, how we can join the army, how the recruitment process works and also some fun facts about how much leave the soldiers to get etc. It was inspiring for many of us to know that we had so many options in joining the army and performing different kinds of roles. - It was a really good experience for all of us to interact with the soldiers, colonel and other people from the armed forces. Hope we will be able to serve the country in whatever form we can when we grow up.
-
Sharvani Satish (8B):
I had the golden opportunity of competing in the programme at the army camp. The inspiring speech by Colonel Atri motivated many of us to seriously consider joining the army. There was detailed information on the courses we should take to enrol for the army and the facilities we shall get such as free education for our children and canteen facilities. - Tying Rakhi to the soldiers and forging a bond was a novel experience for all. The visit to the army camp and interaction with the soldiers was a fruitful one in association with the celebration of 75th Independence Day. I thank the authorities in school for arranging such a wonderful trip.

Sai Samhitha S (7A):
I cherish the day when a spectacular show of dance was put up by fellow friends at the camp and a chorus song by class 8 at the camp. The wealth of information got from the Colonel and the memorable interaction with the soldiers will stay fresh forever in my mind.
