Expressing Devotion through Dance: Bhavam Nrityalaya's Navaratri Celebrations
Bhavam Nrityalaya, a foundation for Arts and Education dedicated to the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam in Ecity Phase 1, Bengaluru, celebrated Navaratri with two special performances.
At Vidhyaaranga, their Dance Studio, students presented Navarasa Nritya Manjari, an offering to Goddesses Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswathi. The program featured three original choreographies by Guru Smt. Anitha Rajagopalan. Highlights included the iconic Angayarkanni Varnam, (depicting the nine emotions or Navarasas) through the facets of Goddess Meenakshi, the Ashtalakshmi Stotram invoking the eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi, and a soulful composition “Shringapuradeeshwari” dedicated to Goddess Sharada.
Bhavam Nrityalaya was also invited to perform at the Hosur Sri Kalyana Kamakshi Amman Temple's Navaratri Festival, where they earned the Best Performance Award. Six of the school's young artists—Aditi Ghosh, Gargi Balasubramanian, Pratyusha Katara, Tanmayee Prasad, Vibha Karthikeyan, and Vidhula GS—were honored with the title "Natyamani," while senior disciples Sai Supriya Sreevalsam and Smt. Naga Vydyanathan received the titles "Natya Jyothi" and "Kala Mani," respectively. It was indeed a profoundly divine and rewarding Navaratri season for the school.
