BMRCL's pink line, the metro connecting Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara is getting ready for a partial launch next month. The elevated stretch from Kalaena Agrahara to Tavarakere is getting finishing touches with station civil works 95% complete. Simultaneously the Kothanur depot is also getting ready to handle (presently 80,% complete,), the truncated Kalena Agrahara Tavarakere stretch.
BMRCL have become wiser, after the teething problems the yellow line underwent, wherein the gap between infrastructure completion and arrival of rolling stock was behind by nearly 2 years. This time for the pink line, the gap between infrastructure readiness and rolling stock arrival has been stitched. All ready 4 train sets are undergoing the mandatory trials on the elevated stretch. The good news is - a fifth train set is expected before the launch date, so as to make the 7.5 kms elevated stretch operational. Further more, mandatory safety performance trials under the over all supervision of RDSO to determine that the rolling stock, infrastructure confirms with operational needs is also being conducted, indicating, BMRCL is seriously working on a May 2026 launch.
Once fully operational, the Jayadeva Interchange metro station will become the busiest station on this stretch. The remaining construction works for the pink line ( 13.92 Kms) has been targeted for an ambitious Dec 2026 launch.
"*Large cities in India, need a robust metro system as part of urban mobility infrastructure. In this direction. BMRCL is working doubly hard, to ensure metro serves the general public, and aiming to be a game changer in urban transportation"
