As times change, new products are invented making our everyday lives better. I would like to talk about one such product today – Menstrual cups for ladies. The menstrual cups are fast emerging as an alternative to the traditional sanitary pads and there are three reasons for why I would recommend it to all the ladies.
The first one being convenience and hygiene. Usually, a sanitary pad even if designed for heavy flow requires to be changed in 4–8 hours while a cup can be worn for up to 12 hours. The cups are worn internally, largely eliminating the nuisance of skin irritation and bacterial infections. The second reason is cost-effectiveness. It is obvious that the upfront cost of a menstrual cup is higher but it needs to be viewed as a one-time investment. The menstrual cup can be reused after being sanitized carefully. A single menstrual cup can last for a few years with proper care thus removing the recurring cost of pads.
The third is environmental impact. An average lady would use thousands of pads in her lifetime. These pads contain plastic and take thousands of years to decompose. But, using a menstrual cup will significantly reduce this waste and act as a contribution to conserving Mother Earth.
This Mother’s Day, let us honour not only the mothers who nurture us, but also Mother Earth who sustains us all. A mother shapes her daughter with love, and together they can shape a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful future for generations to come.
“Every daughter carries her mother’s love and Mother Earth’s blessings into the future.”
