ANEKAL: Rail commuters in Anekal have urged authorities to improve train services and railway infrastructure along the Bengaluru–Hosur corridor. During a recent interaction, commuters highlighted concerns over the proposed extension of the Yesvantpur–Hosur MEMU service to Periyanagathunai, saying the existing service is relied upon by thousands of daily passengers. Commuters have also demanded a dedicated platform for Salem-route trains at Baiyappanahalli, citing delays caused by the lack of track availability. They believe a dedicated platform could improve punctuality and create scope for additional MEMU services towards Hosur. The demands are aimed at strengthening rail connectivity for Anekal, Hosur and surrounding areas, where many residents depend on affordable trains for work and education. Better services could also help reduce pressure on the region’s increasingly congested roads.
