The teenage years bring rapid physical, emotional and hormonal changes. Academic pressure and screen time can affect sleep, concentration, mood and wellbeing. Regular yoga practice may support fitness, stress management and wellbeing in teenagers. Yoga asanas can improve flexibility, balance, strength and body awareness. Pranayama encourages mindful breathing and may help teenagers manage stress. Meditation and mindfulness can support calmness, attention and emotional awareness, helping teens pause before reacting and make thoughtful decisions. A hack that works wonders is “yoga snack breaks”! Instead of one long session, teens can practise 10 minutes of yoga three times a day, stretching in the morning, moving during study sessions and relaxing before bed. Bhramari Pranayama, or humming-bee breath, may encourage relaxation and focus, increase memory power, better relaxation and concentration , this may support studying and learning. Daily Yoga Hacks: Stretch for 10 minutes after waking. Take a yoga break during study sessions. Practise gentle breathing before exams. Meditate for 5 minutes before bed.
Safety note: Practise gently, without forcing the body or breath. Stop if you experience pinching pain or dizziness. Small, consistent practices can help teens build healthy habits.
