- Shikaripalya Lake, which is close to Electronics City, has been saved from extinction.A group of 11 citizens formed a conservation committee and petitioned the revenue authorities to save the lake. Though a survey was ordered last year, no progress was made till the National Green Tribunal (NGT) took up the matter, on January 2022 the gram panchayat engaged a firm to rejuvenate the lake with CSR funding from a private company. One acre and 30 guntas of the roughly two acres encroached had been removed after buildings were destroyed, according to the tahsildar for Anekal Taluk. ongoing drain and bund encroachment is still a worry, Garbage also enters the filtration ponds of the lake from Neeladri Nagar. High time to stop the garbage from entering the lake and request government authorities to take necessary actions to ensure water bodies are protected.
