World Creativity and Innovation Day serves as a reminder to get outside of the box and try something new. It inspires us to think creatively and improve the environment around us. It also serves as a prompt to act. Ideas alone are not very useful. Take constructive action to make the world a better place.
The definition of creativity given by Encyclopaedia Britannica is “the ability to make or otherwise bring into existence something new, whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or device, or a new artistic object or form.” Innovation, according to Merriam Webster, is “a new idea, method, or device.” Innovation and creativity are related ideas, but they are also two sides of the same coin. Being a mental process, creativity requires thought. It entails developing original ideas or fresh takes on existing concepts. On the other hand, innovation can be put into practice. It entails putting concepts into practice to create something beneficial. Both ideas are dependent on one another. Creativity is the root of innovation, whereas innovation would be useless without creativity.
