Electronic City Cultural Association (ECCA) is a registered charitable organization. It was formed in 2012 by a motley of passionate Bengalis residing in and around Electronic City who shared among themselves the desire not only to make a difference to their immediate neighbourhood but also to the society at large by way of enhancing cultural and social harmony. The same year, as the very first step, ECCA organized the Sarvajanin Durgotsav to bring people from all walks of life, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, closer to each other to offer a platform to interact and communicate. From its humble moorings in 2012, today our Durgotsav has become a landmark event in the cosmopolitan calendar of Bangalore. ECCA has contributed significantly to the cultural activities in Electronic City. We have periodically organised events that have showcased the cultural heritage of our country in various ways, aptly living up to our credo – culture binds us! ECCA is not resting on its laurels. The commitment and dedication of its members to take the organisation forward continue through dreaming new dreams, debating new ideas, trying out uncharted territories, and linking continuity with change, but never veering from its core values and vision, and from its overarching objective of making a difference to our society. ECCA marches forward, inspired by the words of Tagore: “I slept and dreamt that life was a joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” For Bengalis and those who have a connection with Kolkata or Bengal, Durga Puja is more than a religious festival. It is an emotion, nostalgia and a culmination of a long wait each year, a part of growing up, “notun jama”, “pujor gaan”, brushing up lost skills for the cultural programs, getting together with loved ones, lots of good food, adda and much much more. ECCA celebrated its first Durga Puja or Sarvajanin Durgotsav in 2012 to give the community in Electronic City a chance to revive and recreate those fond memories and has been organizing the Sarvajanin Durgotsav every year since then, at White Feathers. In the last 11 years, the ECCA Durgotsav has become a key destination in every Bangaloren’s puja hopping map with thousands of visitors every day. Not just that, it features as one of the biggest, most visited Durga Pujas in Bangalore, with participation across communities, walks of life and locations.
