Ecotourism, “Responsible travel to natural areas that conserve the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education.
This World Tourism Day 2023, the UNWTO, under the theme “Tourism and green investment” highlights the need for more and better-targeted investments for the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN roadmap for a better world by 2030.
Let us make it the “New Normal”
1. Go green – reusable water bottles, travel mugs, a cloth shopping bag for the groceries, and containers for leftovers, all the while, avoiding single-use disposables. Turn off the air conditioning, heater and electronic gadgets when you leave your room.
2. Spread awareness & experience on sustainable tourism amongst your friends and community through various channels.
3. Walk or cycle where possible, reducing the carbon print on the place.
4. Say no to plastics and do not litter.
5. Respect the practices of local peoples and eat / buy from the local community thereby supporting small scale business.
