On Saturday, June 1st, 2024, a vibrant celebration unfolded at Somasundarapalya lake, hosted by BAF & WWF, marking World Environment Day. The event, a collaborative effort of various organizations and community members, aimed to raise awareness and appreciation for nature’s wonders.
The day commenced with heartfelt gratitude extended to all citizens and students who participated in the lake tour, exploring the transformation of Sundaravana within the vicinity. Participants embarked on a journey of discovery, witnessing the lush greenery and biodiversity thriving within the urban landscape.

A special thanks was reserved for BAF and WWF for orchestrating the event, with recognition also given to Rotary HSR, SayTrees, and the Community Taskforce Team for their unwavering support. The managing committee of Mahaveer Seasons Club House was acknowledged for their invaluable assistance in facilitating the event.
The itinerary included an enlightening tour of Sundaravana, a mini urban forest, where participants immersed themselves in the beauty of nature. Amidst the foliage, attendees captured moments with their “green friends,” showcasing a shared love for the environment.
At Mahaveer Seasons Club House, WWF shed light on their organizational endeavors, while the Wetlands team delved into the significance of wetlands and their conservation efforts. Children enthusiastically engaged in simple water testing activities, gaining insights into environmental stewardship.
The Community Task Force team provided a historical narrative of Somasundarapalya lake, underscoring the collective efforts behind the creation of Sundaravana. Attendees savored snacks and refreshments served in eco-friendly steel cutlery, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices.
