For the past 15 years, Vidya has been actively donating blood and contributing to community welfare initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she volunteered with the Home Quarantine team, collaborating closely with Mr. Manivannan, IAS, and Mr. Tejaswin Surya. She helped secure beds for COVID-19 patients in Bangalore and distributed essential supplies, including food and medical kits, to daily wage earners in Electronic City.
She also organized relief efforts with the help of her friends, providing support to security and housekeeping staff during the lockdown. Following the pandemic, she joined the Traffic Warden Organization under the Bangalore City Police.
In Electronic City, traffic management poses challenges such as non-compliance with signals and reckless driving by delivery personnel from platforms like Swiggy and Zomato. She urges delivery personnel to adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of wearing helmets for two-wheeler riders, including passengers, and ensuring proper helmet fastening to prevent head injuries.
Furthermore, she’s involved in the Bal Gokula program initiated by the Shri Krishna Mahila & Bala Vikas Seva Charitable Trust, conducting bridge courses for underprivileged children to facilitate their admission to government schools. They also educate government school children and migrant workers in the Ecity area about menstrual hygiene. She’s been an active participant in community events, including Namma Kambla held at Palace Ground, Bengaluru, from its inception.
Vidya’s efforts exemplify her commitment to improving community welfare and safety.
