Education is empowerment. We have heard this several times, but how many of us after being highly educated from premium institutes have ever tried to impart this power to the under privileged?
Few months back I came across a charity run school, who were looking for volunteers to teach kids of immigrant labors. To my surprise we got enough volunteers to start the classes immediately.
First day of the school, new bags, bottles, sippers, books, pencil boxes, with all this and the excitement and enthusiasm amongst those kids was inexpressible. Most of the kids among the lot are such fast learners and these kids have a zeal in them to grasp whatever’s been taught to them. There is a 12year old girl among them who has been admitted to this school to take care of her younger brother but her parents aren’t interested to let her pursue studies. She has been keenly observing the environment and surprisingly doing well. Planning to empower her with a lifelong skill, so she can be financially independent is something I wish personally.
My request to the readers, if time permits please do try in your little way to educate any under privileged you come in contact every day. By education I don’t mean any curriculum, but basic living skills as legal rights, writing there name, how to open bank account or anything that would help better up there life. We are blessed to be educated, let’s be proud to share this power!
