In a major traffic management move, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced diversion of vehicles onto upgraded three-lane service roads along Hosur Road in Bengaluru. The decision comes amid ongoing construction of grade separators and underpasses at four key junctions on this heavily congested corridor.
Hosur Road, part of NH-44, handles over 1.2 lakh passenger car units daily and serves as a critical link to Electronic City and Hosur. To minimize disruption during construction, existing two-lane service roads are being widened into three lanes on both sides, allowing smoother diversion of traffic.
Work is underway near major bottlenecks including Guestline Circle, Guddahatti Gate and Chandapura. In the long term, six-lane underpasses and improved junction designs are expected to eliminate accident-prone zones and enhance traffic flow.
Authorities believe the temporary diversions, combined with infrastructure upgrades, will provide both immediate relief and sustainable mobility improvements for South Bengaluru commuters.
