Karnataka has become the first state in India to officially approve 12 paid menstrual leaves per year for women employees — that’s one leave per month, applicable across both government and private sectors. “It is the most progressive new law… Women can take one leave a month or all at once, as per their cycle,” said Labour Minister Santosh Lad. This step is a powerful recognition of women’s health, dignity, and rights in the workplace.
