Vijayadashami Utsava — a grand event that holds deep cultural, spiritual, and national significance.
For the RSS, this day holds special importance as it was on Vijayadashami in 1925 that the organization was founded by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur.
Since then, the day has been observed not only as a religious festival but also as the foundation day of the RSS, making it a moment of reflection, celebration, and rededication to the nation.
The Vijayadashami Utsava is marked by a series of events that showcase the discipline, unity, and cultural ethos of the Sangh. The celebrations typically begin with a Path Sanchalan (route march, not mandatory on same day), where swayamsevaks (volunteers) dressed in their traditional uniform march in unison, displaying physical fitness, coordination, and commitment to national service.
This is followed by a public gathering where the RSS Sarsanghchalak (Chief) addresses (Bodhik) the swayamsevaks and the nation in Nagpur and in other states, districts and citys Utsava happens on same time, gathering will be addressed (Bodhik) by local know figure mainly involved in social cause . The speech often reflects on the current socio- political landscape, the organization’s achievements, and its vision for the future.
It serves as a guiding light for the cadre and a reaƯirmation of the Sangh’s dedication to nation-building, cultural preservation, and social harmony. The event also includes demonstrations of martial arts, yoga, and traditional Indian games, highlighting the importance of physical well-being and cultural pride.
A Symbol of Unity and Service The Vijayadashami Utsava is not just a celebration for the RSS; it is a symbol of unity, discipline, and devotion to the motherland. It brings together people from all walks of life—young and old, rural and urban—under the shared vision of a strong, self-reliant, and culturally rooted Bharat. As the RSS marks its 100th year in 2025, this year’s Vijayadashami Utsava holds even greater significance. It is a moment to honor a century of unwavering service, to celebrate the journey so far, and to look ahead with renewed vigor and commitment.
