It was a good beginning for the Electronic city community to come together for a waste management workshop on 14th September. The sustainable waste management workshop was held in Apartment Mahendra Elena5, Electronic City by SWMRT (Solid Waste Management Round Table) in collaboration with Eco_Margdarsak. The event saw an impressive turnout with 50 people in attendance from different buildings of Ecity.
Workshop Highlights:
- Segregation at Source: Participants learned the importance of sorting waste at its origin, which is crucial for effective recycling and composting.
- Basics of Composting: The workshop provided an introduction to composting, highlighting its benefits and the science behind transforming organic waste into nutrient-rich compost.
- Hands-On Composting Demo: Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a live composting demonstration, gaining practical experience and confidence to implement composting in their own homes.
Waste Minimization Tips: Tips and strategies were shared to help reduce waste generation in everyday life, from mindful purchasing to reusing and recycling materials.
The event was supported by community partner, Eco_margdarsak, whose expertise and resources greatly contributed to the effectiveness of the workshop.
The session was highly interactive, with many participants asking questions and engaging in discussions. This enthusiasm showed a strong community interest in sustainability and a willingness to adopt eco-friendly practices.
Many attendees expressed a desire to start waste management and composting in their apartments. SWMRT will be working with interested apartments during their first journey towards composting.
