Between work deadlines, screens, traffic and the constant rush of everyday life, it is easy to forget the simple joy of coming together and celebrating. The festival of Janmashtami offers a simple reminder of that. At its heart is Krishna, remembered through His joyful pastimes, music, dance, friendship and devotion. On 4th September, the first-ever ISKCON Janmashtami celebration in Electronic City brought together around 2,000 people for an evening inspired by the spirit of Vrindavan. Visitors could explore the four yugas - Satyuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparyuga and Kaliyuga through immersive 3D dioramas, while continuous Hare Krishna sankirtan, cultural performances by children, live drama and Krishna Katha offered glimpses into Krishna’s teachings and pastimes. Maha Abhishekam of the Radha-Krishna deities, flower Holi, Maha Aarti and Maha Prasadam added to the festive atmosphere. A dedicated kids zone saw around 100 children participate in competitions like fancy dress, singing, shloka recitation, pot painting, colouring and card-making. Games, chanting and other activities introduced them to Krishna in a fun and engaging way. Every participant received a certificate while winners were awarded prizes on stage. The event was entirely volunteer-led, with devotees and community members coming together to create an experience that was as much about devotional service as it was about celebration. For ISKCON ECity Phase 1, the memorable gathering marked a step towards creating a spiritual oasis in the midst of modern urban life. The centre hosts regular workshops every Sunday featuring kirtan, chanting, talks on Bhagavad-Gita and prasadam. These workshops are open to all.
