Bengaluru, June 19: The Ministry of Labour and Employment organized a regional-level event at the International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIIT-B), Electronic City, as part of the nationwide programme under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY). The main event was held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi disbursed incentives worth ₹2,400 crore to more than 15 lakh beneficiaries across the country. Similar programmes were conducted simultaneously at 200 locations nationwide.
In Bengaluru, the event was attended by around 650 participants, including 550 beneficiaries, 100 employers, industry representatives, public officials and EPFO personnel. Fifteen employment letters were handed over to newly employed workers during the programme. Bengaluru South MLA M. Krishnappa attended the event as the chief guest and said the PM-VBRY scheme provides confidence to first-time employees while encouraging employers to generate more jobs.
Under the PM-VBRY scheme, eligible first-time employees receive one month's wage up to ₹15,000, while employers are provided incentives for creating additional employment opportunities.
