Electronic City | July 2026: Authorities have begun a major rescue operation to restore Shikaripalya Lake after reports of severe pollution caused by untreated sewage inflows. Acting on directions from the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Hulimangala Gram Panchayat has initiated immediate measures to prevent further environmental damage.
Officials conducted site inspections, deployed vacuum tankers to remove accumulated sewage and stagnant wastewater, and started treating contaminated water. The Panchayat is also working with various government departments to identify the sources of illegal sewage discharge and ensure that untreated wastewater no longer enters the lake.
To strengthen enforcement, police complaints have been filed against those responsible for polluting the lake. Authorities have assured residents that restoration efforts, regular monitoring, and pollution control measures will continue until the lake's ecological health is restored. The initiative aims to protect one of Electronic City's important water bodies and ensure its long-term sustainability for local communities and biodiversity.
