We would like to draw the urgent attention of the Hebbagodi City Municipal Council (CMC) and concerned civic authorities to the extremely poor condition of the approach road leading to Icon Happy Living Apartment, Kammasandra, Hebbagodi. While the apartment falls under Ward 30, the main entrance/approach road falls under Ward 31. This stretch is used daily by hundreds of residents, school vehicles, delivery personnel and emergency services, yet it has remained poorly maintained for years.
Major concerns include: Streetlight poles were installed several years ago, but lights were never provided. As clearly visible in the attached picture, the poles continue to stand without functioning streetlights, leaving the stretch unsafe after dark. Broken and damaged drainage, resulting in unhygienic conditions and waterlogging. Poor cleanliness and lack of regular civic maintenance. An unused dug borewell occupies a significant portion of the road, making almost half the road unusable at that location and creating a serious safety hazard. Vehicles are regularly parked at road corners and along almost half of the road, making turns difficult and restricting the movement of larger and emergency vehicles. The road has a dangerous curve with poor visibility and a clear blind spot. Blind-spot convex mirrors, warning signage and scientifically designed speed humps should be installed immediately to reduce the risk of vehicle collisions.
The seriousness of the situation cannot be ignored. Recently, we lost our dear resident Mr. Suresh following an unfortunate incident associated with the poor condition of the entrance road. This tragic loss highlights why preventive action cannot be delayed. We request the Hebbagodi CMC and concerned authorities of Wards 30 and 31 to jointly inspect the area and urgently complete the pending streetlight work, repair the drainage, restore the road, address the unused borewell, improve cleanliness, regulate roadside parking and introduce safety measures at the blind curve. We do not want to lose another resident’s life because basic road-safety measures were not implemented in time. This requires immediate priority and action.
