For many people segregating the waste at source is not easy nor a habit. In the last 30+ yrs there was a rapid change/growth in lifestyle. Many middle-class families became rich, the rich became richer, and the poor remained poor. From the situation of things-on-demand it turned to things-is-in-abundance mode. All of us started moving towards tier-1 cities to earn well, build assets, and settle down for the future and to live a comfortable and luxurious life. In this fast transition we never imagined or predicted the current stage of this lifestyle in the past, meaning 15-20 years before. In the same way, we never imagined we would be over polluting the natural resources like water, air, and soil because of over consumption and usage of chemical based hyper solutions that we use in our day-to-day life. We never put our attention on thoughts about our habits that were slowly creating climate issues called global-warming. Nobody predicted the drought or rise in temperature because of our lifestyle changes. Same causes lack of awareness and practicing eco-friendly habits and activities like conscious consumption of water, using public transport and pooled transportation to reduce air pollution and traffic, segregation of waste at source to reduce the landfill and generation of hazardous cum infectious diseases, building a green environment around us, etc. People who are conscious about the impacts started changing their small habits day-by-day and started living nature-friendly life. But the overall <10% rest 90% of the people are only concerned about their personal and family future and want to live their life as per their convenience. We can't criticize them because that is how we have grown up or all because of a rapid/hyper lifestyle switch. The past is the past, but the future is in our hands now. We have to work towards swapping the current ratio 1: 9 to 9:1 ratio in the near future. With gratitude we have to be thankful to our ancestor, leaders who all contributed (directly or indirectly) for this lifestyle changes what we are experiencing now at the same time with gratitude we should thank the nature that makes to live this lifestyle by bearing all the pains and issues we are creating to this earth. Once we start changing our thoughts and habits “1% improvement" per day, then we can live a green life in the near future. Everyone of us should take pledge, gain good knowledge about best practices and start implementing or putting into action in our day-to-day life towards nature-friendly living. Yes, it is achievable and we can do it together. People should work together with community level volunteers and be supportive and responsible for the positive change in their society. Instead of people seeing those volunteers as adamant, arrogant or irritating characters, they should understand their concern and cooperate with them to bring a community level change. At the same time, community volunteers should not be too strict and rude with society people. They should be humble, kind, and polite because your community members need awareness, practical experiences, and time to practice and make it a habit. Give them enough time, keep nurturing regularly with required time gaps so as to slowly bring a change in your community. Volunteers, do your job without any expectations on the outcome. Your community members also will understand you and cooperate with you soon. If all the communities start switching towards green living, then our next generation also will adapt and make it as a culture or else they will also face a lot of climate challenges in the future. Let's do something good now for the future generation. We all lived and lived luxurious lives, let our next generation live a green luxurious life with beautiful surroundings, clean water, fresh air, healthy soil along with lots of bio diversity.
